Draft at BitterCreek. Not bad, but what is it? Light, more hops than necessary for a Saison. Dry, grainy, malts. Slight yeast component. Head scratcher.

another delicious commons brew, this is a new one, a session ale with mandarina bavaria hops, real low alcohol and high carbonation, its designed as it name suggests, for those looking to drink on beers all afternoon there and not need medical help to leave the building. i think they have done a nice job keeping this light, while also getting maximum grain flavor and plenty of body worked in. some many of these are flavorless on the malt side, relying on the hops to do all the flavoring, but this has a nice fresh pale malt base, maybe a pinch of wheat, its fluffy feeling but also dry, and really is somewhat hearty for being lower in alcohol. the hops are awesome too though of course, this varietal is all the rage right now, and everyone seems to be using it, but to have it so aromatic and punchy here without a lot of interference from bitterness or sweet grain, it ends up being one of the best expressions of it i have seen. tangy sweet orange, preserved lemon, cut grass, and a drop of honey. very cool profile to it, and with the fresh cereals, it finishes refreshing but enormously flavorful. really quality session ale right here.
