Plum Bretta starts as a golden farmhouse ale added into red wine barrels inoculated with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis. In late summer we’ll pick, rinse and puree local Italian Plums and add this to the beer for approximately 5 weeks. The result is a tart, light purple beer with a complex nose and fruity flavor with likely contribution from wild yeast living on the plum skins.

On tap at Hop and Vine.

A: Plum, rose color with a slightly pink head.

N: Plum, grape, olive, raspberry, and a hint of cherry. Some moderate funkiness.

T: Plum, olive, salt, and horse blanket. Moderately sour. Vinous/grape. Raspberry and marionberry. Very heavy cheese funkiness.

M: Spritzy and light. Extremely dry.

O: Shines as it warms. Very complex and drying. Could use a little time, but worth recommending. Would definitely buy bottles. Ended up being my favorite beer of the night, as it turns out.

On tap at The Hop & Vine for Zwanze Day. What an excellent beer.

Mildly pink and hazy with a thin, white head with decent retention and lacing, this looks decent. The nose is outstanding. A harmonious blend of Brett and plums, with the spicy, mildly clove-like Brett notes working well with the light, fruity, plum character. The fruit expression is exquisite - sweet, floral and complex. Delicate and nice.

The palate opens fruity tart (Brett acidity) and funk with an excellent plum character on the base beer. Fleshy, fruity, floral and complex, it melds really well with the Brett notes. A little sweet, but otherwise, this beer is excellent. Medium-light in body, moderately carbonated with a beautiful finish with a blend of Brett and tartness, this beer is highly recommended.
