Had on tap at the Commons Brewery in SE Portland, OR
Deep brown/black body with a formidable creamy tan head sticks around.
Somewhat earthy aromas of dark roasted coffee, roasted nuts, nut meat, bitter chocolate, and lactose.
On the palate the beer opens up a bit more with roasted coffee and nuts flavors coupled with more subtle flavors of Bing cherry and chicory.
A very solid effort worth ferreting out.

On tap at the brewery.
A: An abyss of black; thin head, OK lacing.
N: Espresso, lactose, cocoa, and vanilla. Astounding nose for an oatmeal stout.
T: Very weak version of the nose. Mild sweetness and a weak coffee bitterness.
M: Round mouthfeel that’s slightly watery.
O: Wasn’t as pleased with this one because the taste fails the nose. I’m not expecting a hearty RIS, but a bit of depth in the body would help.
