Nitro beer with assertive aroma of chocolate ganache and tootsie roll. Mild
vanilla aroma in the background. Flavors of bakers chocolate
and dry roasted malts. Vanilla is pronounced in the mid
palette before a dry roasted finish. Mouth feel is rich and
creamy with a surprising dryness. Silky chocolate and vanilla
with a lingering dry cocoa and roast.

Probably my favorite beer all time. Remember the first time you smelled cocoa as child and then stuck your finger in it to taste it?
Well imagine had it actually tasted as good as it smelled...
That's Chocolate Thunder folks.
Too bad they haven't had it the last few times I visited the brewery because they can't bottle it so it's only available on tap

Pours a black color. 1/5 inch head of an off-tan color. Slight lacing and slight retention. Smells of strong chocolate, roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of hops, and a hint of lactose sweetness. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Fits the style of an American Porter. Tastes of strong chocolate, roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of hops, hint of yeast, and a hint of lactose sweetness. Weak appearance, but good body, aroma, with a great feel and blend.

this is awesome beer from the nitro tap, every bit as good as the highly acclaimed shake from boulder, and very similar in a lot of ways. i get as much dark chocolate and bakers bitter chocolate in here as i do milk chocolate though, and i like the balance of the two. its not so sweet like shake is, i could have several of these. there is a lighter almost graham crackery element to the grain bill as well, and it shows itself right in the middle in a cool way, an interlude from the roast and coffee notes. still a bit sweet, but more under control i think. i love the nitro feel too for a beer like this, so creamy and thick, it adds richness and smoothness to an already elegant beer. if they packaged this in nitro cans, it would go viral. huge body and a ton of flavor happening, slight vanilla and black tea notes too, plenty of nuance. overall a rather impressive brew, maybe my favorite of the several i had from mothers during my recent travels...

On tap. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of roasted coffee, chocolate, caramel and some toffee. Strong coffee flavor with sweet chocolate and roasted malt flavors.
