this is just a little maltier than i like my american pale ale to be, the could have reduced or cut out the crystal and euro types in here and been better off i think, but it doesnt make the beer particularly heavy, and the hop profile here is distinctive and awesome, very new school on top of an old school grain base, almost doesnt sound like it would work, but it does! the hops are citrus forward, juicy and bright and insanely fresh but only a little bit bitter. i get clementine or mandarin orange, sweet and oily, and i get something a little more bitter, grapefruity, simcoe maybe, followed by a delicate springy tropical profile, pineapple maybe, very australian hoppy to me, a little floral, super fragrant, bold enough to come through the malt in the taste. lightly toasted grain, english maybe, it seems like a contradiction to the lively fruity hops, thats the part i would scale back, but the body stays light and it finishes dry and pretty clean, without much bitterness or anything, and without any real yeast flavor here at all either, the hops shine. unique take on the pale ale, four season beer for sure. i have been impressed with recent offerings from these guys!

I had this at the brewery and picked up a six pack to bring home. The beer is a mostly clear, amber-gold color with just a slight haze. The head is a brilliant white, tall and lasting. Nice aroma....resiny hops, earthy, herbal, and dry. The taste is similar....flavorful and pine-like hops...mouth-puckering bitter and dry notes, but they aren't overwhelming. There is a background malt balance, but little sweetness. Medium in body and enjoyable.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Two fingers of froth leaves a beautiful trail of lacing down the glass, deep copper hue has a perfect clarity. Crisp, on the dry side, medium bodied, and smooth. Toasted bread crust and dried hay meet up with a mild fruitiness. Earthy hops, tea-like with a mild citrus rind tone. Hop bitterness balances perfectly. Very enjoyable, most certainly one of the best APAs I've had in a good while.

Poured from a growler. Reddish straw color with a decent head. Smells of earthy hops and a little fruity. Earthy hops with slight fruit and pine on the taste. Pretty decent APA.
