2017 16 oz. can poured into a wine glass.
Saturated orange color, light haze, lasting foam and spotty lacing.
Aroma has the earthy cucumber sweetness and dry minerally saison yeast.
Lightly tart and big earthy sweet cucumber presence. Crisp dry finish.
Light bodied and very effervescent, good palate cleanser.
Overall I liked this beer though it seemed a touch overcarbed.
Great cucumber aroma and flavor, plus the yeast wasn't phenolic. Win win.

either these guys have gotten a lot better lately, or i did not start with their best work. these few ive had lately have been so good, this one is awesome! cucumber in beer can be one of two things in my experience, the first is heavy perfume, an essence or concentrate, over the top, dominating even if it tastes authentic. the others is insanely refreshing, like cucumber peel in drinking water, like one might find in a hotel lobby. its true to the vegetable, thats for sure, and its fresh and forward, but its not too much at all, just fantastic use of it here. the base saison is kind of simple really, a subtle and relaxed yeast strain and a cleaner and lighter wheat body, its elegant, not as rustic or complex as the best of them, but with the cucumber, it doesnt need to be anything more than it is. a refreshing drinker more than a contemplator, i think that makes sense with the cucumber. some of the best use of it ive seen in a beer actually, and while this doesnt live up to the high standards i have for saison in the old world sense, its almost a different style entirely. dry and crisp and effervescent, i am surprised this isnt rated more favorably. mothers is becoming one of my favorites when i am on the road in missouri!

I got a can of Mother's Cucumber Saison that a friend shared with me. I've never had a cucumber beer before and I'm interested to see how it will turn out, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a tall 16oz can into a teku.

A- The can looks nice, it's got a nice clean look to it and it just a little eye catching. It poured a golden orange color that took on more of a golden color when held to the light with two fingers worth of fluffy off white head that died down toa thin ring that stayed till the end and it left some nice patchy lacing behind. This is a good looking saison, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the saison yeast being the first to show up and it imparts a typical saidon yeast aroma, but it's a little on the lighter side for the style, which is nice. Up next comes fruit aromas with some stonefruit showing up and it's followed by the cucumber which imparts a fresh, green, vegetable like aroma that lingers towards the end with a little more sweetness with a light malty aroma. This beer has good aroma, it lives up to it's name and it's well balanced.

T- The taste isn't too similar to the aroma and it starts off with a lower amount of sweetness that leads right into the a cucumber flavors that has that watery, crisp, vegetable like aroma. Up next comes the yeast which is lighter than it was in the aroma and it's followed by the fruit flavors which are pretty light and they linger right till the end with pretty much no malt flavors and it leads into a slightly higher amount of low bitterness with the cucumber showing up in the aftertaste. This is a good tasting beer, the cucumber actually shows up, but I with the yeast was just a little stronger.

M- Smooth, crisp, clean, on the lighter side of being medium bodied with a higher amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is good and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a good beer and a pretty nice example of the style, a lot of these flavored saisons can still be a little to heavy on the saison flavors, but this beer took a different approach and I thought the saison base beer flavors were almost too light, but it really came through with the cucumber aspects. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple, but it might start to wear on me after that. What I like the most about this beer is that it lived up to it's name and the cucumber really showed up. What I like the least about this beer is that the saison yeast didn't show up just a little more. I would buy this beer if I ever saw it and I would recommend it to anyone that wants some cucumber flavors in their saison. All in all I was pretty happy with this beer and a little impressed, I was pretty sure the cucumber would hardly be noticeable, but I was proven wrong. This beer made for a good first impression for this brewery and it's a nice example of the style. Good job guys this is a tasty beer.

4/pk 16oz cans. Poured into a 26oz snifter.

Look: Beautiful golden hue with an inch of stark white head.

Smell: Slight vegetable notes are quickly dispersed by the overwhelming saison yeast that comes through. Nice notes of pepper and citrus.

Taste: Spicy, peppery yeast is right up front. A cooling cucumber wave dances across the palate as a soothing reminder of the main focus of this brew. Stellar balance.

Feel: Nice and crisp with a medium effervescence. Definitely appropriate level for a saison.

Overall, this is a great brew. Having only had one other cucumber saison that worked (CigarCity), its hard to be overly critical of the outcome.

Light straw color with a decent head. Smells a little funky and hints of vegetable and cucumber. The farmhouse and cucumber really mix well together and create a good crisp smooth beer.

On tap. Poured a clear, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of cucumber - liquified cucumber. Sweet tasting cucumber water. No bitterness.

Pours an effervescent honey color with a pinky of beige head. Nice lacing and head retention

S: Pears, grassiness & slight grainyness

T: Cucumber, pear, a little grassiness, and dryness up front. Green melon, cucumber, slight lemon zest notes as this warms, plus some pear & little juicy fruit gum. Finishes fruity, refreshing and a little grassy

MF: Medium body, delicate carbonation

Very good, very drinkable, I still like the CCB one I tried in Florida a few years ago more, but this is well worth purchasing. Could drink this all Summer
