Pours black with a finger of khaki foam (~6oz pour from a 22oz bottle). Head retention is okay. Aroma is roasty, toasty, caramely and earthy malts with a dark and dank twist of plum rum and char from the barrels. It comes as a rather immediate dive, souring the nose a touch. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, caramely malts with plum, rum and tart cherry. There is a kiss of char which helps drive in a little char and counter the tart cherry which comes across as an artificial cough syrup-like profile. Infected? Perhaps. Definitely something else going on here in this 2018 bottle. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a velvety, grainy start that deteriorates into a fizzy and crisp effervescent - not what is desired out of a stout. Overall, okay stout but it quickly gets out of hand and turns tart. 2018 bottles may be an issue. Note: approximately 1 1/2 years of age on this bottle. It has not held up well.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 22oz bottle.

A thick pouring pitch black beer. The head is minimal, but what was there was brown colored. No lacing on the glass.
The nose is rich with barrel notes. A sweet component to the nose from the rum barrel.
Taste - wow! It is deep and rich with chocolate notes. There's some raisin up front. The rum barrel is also strong and rich.
The body is a bit lighter than I was expecting, but it isn't watery. I was just expecting a bit thicker. Not much of an alcohol burn.
Delicious rye barrel aged beer. It really adds to the standard MILF.

The last of multiple MILFs provided by scarysun in a no-longer recent trade. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife as we watch what may be Joe Mauer’s second-to-last game in a Twins uniform.
Black, with more head than the other MILFs provided. Aroma is malt & rum. I guess that’s what you pay for in a rum barreled imperial stout. I’d be upset if it smelled like wheat germ.
MILF – Rum Barrel Aged is hard to put down. The rum is exquisitely right, & clearly of good quality. Over-rum or cheap rum can ruin even the best big stout (I’m looking at you, Rum Abyss). Lovely shot of rum up front, complementary chocolate, rich, almost fudgy sweetness, with a touch of black licorice (raisins?) on the finish. Alcohol intrudes only lightly. Thick & sippable. Love getting my mouth on this one.
Easily better than either the Scotch or Brandy versions, I am hugely enjoying this spinner. Even turned on the fireplace, since it seems apropos (plus, it’s Arctic freakin’ cold tonight). Excellent beer.

Poured from a bomber, 2018 bottle. Thanks Justin for this super generous extra.
Pours a deep brown body with a tan two finger head that reduces to a ring and leaves spotty lacing.
Aromas include dark fruits, coffee, raisins and cocoa. On the tongue it’s lightly sweet with chocolate and caramel, dark fruits, a bit of rum and a tad boozy. Medium body with low carbonation.

Pours a deep brown color with a decent tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt with hint of rum. Taste of dark fruit, chocolate, bit of malt and rum sweetness in the background. Nominal bitterness and bit of sweetness in the finish. Medium body, smooth and very tasty without being overly boozy. Very Enjoyable.

Received in a trade with @gibgink – Thanks Dennis!
BB on neck in green ink, illegible. Label says Bottled 2018. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 58 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.75.
Body – Dark brown/black, effervescent. No light penetration when held to light.
Head – Large (just – maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), tan, medium density with some rocks, short retention, rapidly diminishing to an irregular three to four mm ring fed by effervescence and a thin complete layer.
Lacing – Fair for an 11% ABV barrel-aged brew. A single partial ring of tiny to small bubbles appears.
First pour – Dark brown, almost clear.
Aroma – 4 - Rum and raisins initially. This fades and chocolate appears.
Flavor – 4.5 - Begins thick and chocolatey and ends with rum and raisins. Alcohol is barely noticeable until the gastric warming starts. Secondary belches are replete with raisins. Malt and hops do not appear, nor do diacetyl or dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.5 - Medium, bordering on syrupy, soft carbonation.
Impression and summation – 4.25 – While the appearance and the palate are only slightly above average, the flavor and aroma carry this Impy stout. The whole cocoa nib/rum barrel/raisin thing works extremely well to create a delicious synergy of flavors and aromas. I could drink this all day long (Warning! DON’T drink this all day long and then expect to move!), the alcohol being well-hidden. Well done! Just work on that dating problem – move it from the neck to the label.

On tap. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of rum, vanilla, dark chocolate and toffee. It tasted of sweet chocolate, rum, vanilla and toasted toffee.
