Gorgeous ebony black body. Nice little soft cappuccino head. Stays as a simple ring, and there's some light lacing.
Nose is rich and sweet. Nutty and creamy. Still some black coffee bitterness.
Coffee still comes through significantly more on the taste. Bitter rich espresso coffee and creamy nutty blend together to a bitter herbal finish that's gotta be the amaro. It's an interesting blend and it all comes together really well. The amaro barrels come through especially on the lingering herbal finish.
It's not as thick as I would have guessed, but it's oily and has a nice light effervescence.
It's an interesting one, and really well done. I dig it. Thanks @Harrison8 for sending it my way!

22oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of coffee, chocolate, molasses and booziness. Sweet chocolate and roasted coffee taste with oak, vanilla and booziness.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam. Head retention is fair. Aroma is hearty, hitting notes of roasted and toasted malts, chocolate, bourbon, and coffee. The bourbon and coffee are both forward. Flavor profile is a splendid blend of bourbon, coffee, and roasted and toasted malts. It retains a good balance with the bourbon never hitting 'boozy', and yet its at the forefront of the flavors. Mouth feel is lightly creamy, broken up by a touch of velvetiness that ruffles up the edges from being smooth. Overall, a lovely beer for those seeking bourbon and coffee. Wonderfully crafted.

This collaboration is an 11% imperial coffee stout aged in J. Rieger & Co. Caffe’ Amaro barrels.
Thanks to scarysun for dropping this 22 oz. bottle as an extra into a recent trade. Now I have to look up what the heck Café Amaro is. Split with my wife.
The pour is black. The nose is wonderfully rich: deep malts, wicked bourbon/whiskey, & vanilla tangled up with a garden’s worth of herbs. Really nice start.
Collaboration #2: J. Rieger & Co. makes me want to find & consume a bottle of Caffe’ Amaro, pronto. Just as rich as the nose, this is the Mariana Trench of beers. A wave of malty sweetness is complemented by the richness of the barrel, along with a healthy helping of whiskey, vanilla, a slew of herbs highlighted by a strange mintiness. Less prominent are a subtle roast, chocolate, with a kick of bitterness on the finish. Thick, full, & I’m slugging this down.
I can pick more individual tastes out of this beer that almost any I can recall. It’s completely unique & devastatingly tasty. Absolutely fantastic.
