Our Missouri Loves Company® version of Sticke Altbier will be 6% ABV and 30 IBUs and was brewed with Isaria, Munich, Melanoidin, and Chocolate Wheat malts, and hopped with German Akoya, Contessa, and Salvo. As the lore for this style of beer goes, the "sticke" part of the name means "secret." This was the beer that the brewer traditionally made for themselves with a higher alcohol content, but the brewery would put a sign with the word "sticke" in the window to let customers know that the beer was being tapped. Just in time for Oktoberfest season, our "secret" will be released on September 21 at each of our 34 participating brewery locations. We hope you love drinking it as much as we loved brewing it.

Can at 44 Canteen. Poured out a slightly murky, brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sticky lace. It smelled of roasted malt, spices and bready malt. Sweet malty taste with toasted caramel and a smooth bitterness.

Poured from a 12oz can, best by 1-16-2023
On the pour almost 2 fingers of off white/tan head form, then dissipate to a 1cm covering that leaves some lacing. The body is a clear red.
The aroma is a bit off with a big slightly tart fermentation note right up front. Not necessarily bad, bit not to style either. Some lightly roasted caramel malt notes are present.
The taste brings it back woth some lightly sweet, but very nutty and roasty malts. There is also a slight malt sweetness that comes through right as some hop bitterness shows up. Very enjoyable.
Feel is smooth but big. Pretty close to an armchair beer here, although not syrupy and the finish has a certain dryness to it. Longer finish is nice for the style.
Overall this is a very good tasting altbier. I wish it smelled a bit nicer but it's other traits mostly make up for it. Tasty, good looking nutty amber beer.
