Notes / Commercial Description:
Three Blind Mice is inspired by our favorite qualities from English brown ales, German altbiers, and Irish reds. Mother’s trio of beer connoisseurs sipped away many a night, working to find this ideal combination. Mother’s beautiful brown beer is medium-bodied with caramel, toffee, and subtle chocolate malt flavors—all balanced by moderate hop notes and a clean, dry finish.

Three Blind Mice combines components of several malty beers for the unique brown beer experience you've been missing. After lots of research to find the perfect styles for our base, the clear winners were the lighter body and caramel characters of Irish red ales, the soft chocolate and toffee flavors from English brown ales, and the hop component and balance of German altbiers. We used traditional elements from each beer style and added our own touch for one incredible brown beer.

I really love the deep and rich amber look of this beer, and this is a solid and successful marriage between brown ales and Irish reds, but the complexity of this beer isn't quite there for me. I taste some hop bitterness, some malt sweetness and a fair amount of a robust yeast, but I don't quite taste all the underlying flavors advertised. I do like the feel of the beer, though. Seemingly thin enough, but creamy and filling at the same time.

A solid and simple beer to my taste.

Pours a crystal clear bay color. Thin off-white head dissipates quickly leaving no residual head or lacing.

Aroma is rather subdued, but has notes of nuts, earthy malts, with a kind of a plasticy sweetness coming through on the nose. An odd note, but otherwise straightforward.

Taste has notes of toasted malts with some earthy notes. Trends closer to a brown ale rather than an Alt. A definite hop bitterness comes through on the back end, but lacks the spice of the more traditional German hops.

Feel is light to medium bodied. Mild carbonation. Very dry finish.

Overall this is a solid, slightly above average Alt. It misses the mark in a few areas which holds it back, but its a good solid beer.

Received this compliments of a good friend after his travels to Branson. Poured from stubby 12 oz. bottle into frosty pint glass. Pours amber brown with an inch thick tan foamy head (looks pretty much like a root beer). The foam leaves nice lacing. Smells like a malt liquor to me. Tastes of caramel and malt, pretty good and easy to drink. Has a light to medium feel. I could drink a few of these.

Sampled from a Mother's tulip glass.... This brew is a chestnut amber color with a beautiful, thick, creamy head. The aroma is a little woody, with a toast and cracker flavor. The taste is balanced, and not as sweet as expected. Dry amber malt underpins the entire beer. Clean finish and full in body. Wonderful.

Three Blind Mice has a thick, mousey, ivory head, a semi-clear, copper appearance, lots of big and small suspended sediment, some lazy ascending bubbles, and fairly heavy glass lacing. The aroma is of slightly sour brown bread crust and some light caramel. Taste is the same, with a bit of char and a touch of bitterness. Everything, here, is mainly a muted affair. Mouthfeel is watery, and Three Blind Mice finishes medium wet.

So I'm reviewing this while being extremely stuffed up, which no doubt has at least a marginal effect on the smell and taste. Nevertheless, I was fairly disappointed in this beer. It pours a nice amber-brown, with little to no head; the smell is almost non-existent, just some slight sweetness, but again, I'm not in a position to pick up scents at the moment. The taste is light, some maltiness, bready middle, with a slightly bitter ending on the back of the tungue, but with very little complexity. WAY overcarbonated for my tastes in a brown, which ends up being the dominating factor in the experience. Ultimately, this is a drinkable brown, but there's just no flavor or complexity there. I'll try it again when my ollofactory sense is in perfect order, but as of right now this is a "don't buy again".
