Aroma is toasted malts, sweet cherries and vinous alcohol. The flavor is fruit/sweet cherries, malts, mild caramel, slightly oily and a big vinous alcohol finish.

330 ml bottle, best before date of 30.12.25 printed on the label. Served in a chalice, the beer pours a murky copper color with about an inch light tan head that didn't stay around for too long. Small amount of lacing. The brew smells like dark fruit, grapes, sherry, oak and vanilla. I think the taste is similar to the aroma but there's also some brown sugar, caramel, earthy and cherry flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a little syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was good enough, but it didn't impress me at all. Just seemed to be something missing, but with that being said it's worth trying if you're able to.

This was a reasonably solid barrel aged brew...
Not overly impressed with the look but it had a deliciously boozy smell to go along with a very good, medium-bodied mouthfeel. Taste was booze-forward without being overly boozy, if that makes sense. A great winter beer in my opinion...

Undated bottle. "Best by 12/30/25"; drank 12/3/23 @ Pokemon Communion.
Opaque dull brown/orange appearance.
Small khaki head; almost no lace.
Oak, plum & leather notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Plum, leather & cardboard flavors.
Maybe this is old? It's thin and a bit "off" on the palate. Still drinkable.

Best by 12/30/25, not sure how old this is.
The Sherry barrels are very prominent, there is a strong vinous note atop a nice, sugary, dried apricot flavor. Under all that this is a bruiser of an American barleywine. Charred caramel and a lingering hop bite that works well with the bitter oak. Only negative here is the body being a bit thin.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a murky dark orange with almost no head. The nose is dominated by sherry. Apricots, peaches, a hint of toffee, a floral note, and a slight smoky note. Really interesting and definitely a departure from the typical barleywine nose. The taste is...interesting. A collision between sherry and grapefruit peel, with a touch of pine needles. To say this is different is an understatement. The smoky note appears here again. A bit of leather, honey dew, caramel, tannins, and a floral note. The mild bitterness mixes really nicely with the sweet sherry. Honestly, this grows on me as it warms up a bit. Very enjoyable.

Surprisingly dry and even hoppy barleywine, lots of vinous notes, secondary floral notes, typical kind of old school barleywine. I really liked the smooth, lean and lightly creamy feel of this beer. I did not, as others wrote, find it thin, just tightly executed and well attenuated, not at all flabby, just not over the top excessive as the trend seems to go. This is a good beer but I did find myself wanting more of the crazy raisin brown sugar boozy delights one expects when they hear Pedro Ximinez barrels - much more subtle than I anticipated.

12oz bottle from Brewers Haven. Mahogany pour, ring of bubbly beige head. Sweet, cola aroma, chocolate, toffee. Taste starts very boozy, malty, sweet, brown sugar. Warm, very warm. Thin body. Sherry barrels bring backing grape notes.

33cL bottle BB 30.12.25 batch L 6241 poured into a teku glass at 52° Fahrenheit 13.8% ABV. The beer pours opaque, muddy medium brown in color with khaki head. The head recedes to a thin ring and nothing else. The aroma is mild with notes of rich Maris Otter malt, sherry and barrel. The taste is tangy, semi dry MO malt with immediate sherry flavor, oak, tannins, and just a hint of earthy hops on the finish. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with less than medium carbonation and semi dry finish. Overall, excellent.

Aged in Pedro Ximenexs Barrels.
Intense ruby red, lightly veiled. One finger of cream colored foam, beautiful, even if not too long standing.
In the smell liquorous wine notes, cherry, plum, raspberry, red grapes.
At the taste vinous, with wood, red fruit. Initial sweetness, then wood and a light astringency.
Alcohol absolutely hidden.
Again fruit and wine in the aftertaste.
