From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter for the Little Lady as a part of our Christmas beers.
This unique brew pours a dark brownish black with a moderate head of kahki foam that\
settles to a thick ring and a thin dusty layer. Nose of heavy oak, bourbon, coffee, light dark
cocoa, and subtle vanilla with char. Flavors surpass the nose with moist barrel, bourbon,
vanilla, dark cocoa, dark bitter coffee, and touches of char and dark berry hints. Mouth feel
is medium full, smooth, rich, coating, lightly warming, and finishing medium dry and lightly
watery.
Overall, a solid little brew.
Cheers

L: Pours a deep, rich chocolate brown which is near-black. Forms a very minimal tan head that fades quickly, leaving behind a scant ring of lacing and zero retention. When held to the light, this beer has an opaque tar hue.
S: Bourbon, lots of booze that smacks your nostrils first. Roasted malts and chocolate follow. Espresso. Oak and some dark fruit as well, perhaps cherries? Light notes of burnt sugar/molasses and some char.
T: Delicious. Bourbon and coffee dominate the palate at first, but the cacao nibs and oak start to come through in the middle, as do the roasted malts. Hints of char and some spice. Boozy warmth towards the finish.
F: Medium bodied. Creamy and coats the mouth. Low carbonation, a bit oily.
O: Lots of bourbon, lots of coffee, lots of chocolate. Can't go wrong with those ingredients when brewing a RIS. Good sipper for winter nights, nice flavor and aromas, ABV was a bit lacking but that's really not a huge concern. Definitely worth the purchase.
