another hyper modern hazy ipa from these guys with cool ingredients. the bottle prices have been outlandish, but these cans have been reasonable, and i keep picking them up and being happy with them, certainly some of the more ambitious ipa happening right now, and they seem to be at the cutting edge of advancing the style, with new hops and hop products, these have been a lot of fun to drink through. this one features a new to me hop or hop product/extract, ych 701 citra hoe, which i know absolutely nothing about, looks like neither does google, alongside strata, this must be the future folks. thiolized yeast too, ive had a few from them to use this now, and they all pop, maxed out like cryo hops can do on the fruitiness and up front intensity, adding an almost candied punch to the hops as well, but seems even more extreme with this yeast to me than with cryo, just does something similar i reckon, increasing the saturation point, so pungent but not green or harsh at all, dont think you can get to this point with pellets alone, folks sure have tried. this beer is yellow, densely hazy, but very well carbonated and surprisingly dry. thick without being ugly. its immediately unique enough to be intriguing with these hops, green melon, kiwi, and even apple fruitiness up front to me, more familiar mango and tropical notes in the taste than in the nose, white wine, that sauvignon blanc thing that the hops sometimes do with the thiol yeast, lemon hard candy, juicy orange, and some danky weed character as it warms, but its not oily or slick or heavy from the hops but the flavor stays with me anyway, nothing ive ever had quite like it, the strata is identifiable and good, but its this other hops element that makes this so strange and cool. fuller medium body, dry enough to almost be chalky, and with an almost crystalline hoppiness somehow at the end. tasty, but a one and done for me a this intensity. cool what these guys are doing with hoppy beers right now though...
