L-Pours a straw golden, mildly hazy bodied beer with a one or so finger head. Solid carbonation.
S-Lemon zest, bubblegum, earthy/spicy brett funkiness, barnyard, sweet citrus, apple and pear, green/vegetal-like backbone, some nutmeg and bread-like clove. A very wild, in every nature of the word, aroma with a sour candy-like hint at the end.
T-Immediately articulate in nature. This beer is slightly sweet and wheaty with solid notes of black pepper and funk. There are subtle hints of of citrus, mainly orange, as well. The bitterness from the mosaic hops is well welcomed at the end of the tongue. Overall, the flavor has a pronounced organic and earthy vibe to it. The expected saison funk is there, but is much more it's own thing. It embodies Alaska. It tastes wild and wholly it's own, if that makes sense.
F-Dry as expected. Subtle, yet lively carbonation.
O-A great saison. I was so excited to crack into this beer, and it did not disappoint. Wild, funky, unpredictable, rewarding. This is a beer that you sit on and sip and take in. It embodies Alaska, to me. It was such a fun beer to drink and enjoy, and I'm sad that I'm all out. Anchorage Brewing Company is a bucket-list brewery for me to visit, and this beer might have put it at the top of my list. If you're lucky enough to get their distro, give this one a try. Cheers.

Wow, this is a truly excellent beer. I accidentally bought two of these and I was annoyed at first. Then happy. Now, on my second bottle, I'm sad. Really spot-on for what I desire in a saison.

Pours brilliant clear brass with effervescence and a big white head that settles to rouse-able icebergs of finger-width foam. The aroma and flavor are both a combination of all the standards of a textbook saison. Hay, black pepper, light fruitiness, super dry. But both are also enhanced by a perfect melding of Brett fruitiness, sacc (presumably) fruitiness and dry hop fruitiness that is very much there but not in your face.

A united experience that is hard to pull apart to tell where one aspect of it ends and another begins.

All of this is well-balanced by a quick-but big bite of phenolic bitterness that closes out each drink. Lots going on and assertive, but still restrained. Not a gimmick. Dry as a bone. Super drinkable.

A lovely beer!

I wish I'd accidentally bought 6 in Fort Collins thinking they were different beers.
Will definitely seek out these guys' beers in the future.

so dope, and so dope on tap at the brewery, i love coming up here. this is done with two brett strains and two saison yeasts, none of which really present as familiar with the soft new oak profile and the dripping juicy dry hop this has on it, impressive balance and quality, unique mix of old and new world coming together, and despite the hype their million times barrel aged huge spendy ones command, this is the kind of thing that made me fall in love with the brewery way back when, and its the side that keeps me coming back. lightly hazy honey colored brew with a slow fading white inch of head puffing up and leaving some big rings in its wake. awesome nose, subtle at first, the new school hops pop as much as the yeasts do surprisingly, but its not overdone. farmy right away, white wine, sauvignon blanc specifically, crushed pineapple from the can, champagne yeast, less of the normal saison ester profile, not belgian or french to me really at all, some grassy freshness, peppy wheat malt, and waxy honey character too, wild and interesting, but tame too, nice woodiness. the flavor rules, i love this fermentation complexity, understated as it is. this is really great, ripe pears, cracked coconut, wet puppy, dingy basement, clover honey, white florals, neat how mature but also young the brett part is at the same time, and this remains a little sweet through the whole thing, which usually i dont love but here it just extends a good thing even further. fresh and simple grain base it seems, could have some unmalted wheat in it, good minerality, a baked warmth, springy and in bloom, great funk but approachable too, and zero acidity at all, not that kind of mixed fermentation. the hops dont overpower this somehow either, like they are here enhancing this yeast amalgamation, and im all about it. this is a product of masterful technical skill, ingredient knowledge, and practice, and i love it. just the right amount of oak too. lovely carbonation, feels naturally conditioned, stone fruit as it warms, high summer vibes. i could drink a dozen pours of this, what a gem!

edit: every bit as good in the bottle, the bottle conditioning is wonderful, and especially cool to have it from the large format bottling on a very special occasion. people say horse blanket all the time to describe brett ferments, but this like, actually and truly smells and tastes like one, like it came from a barn, i love it! unique vinous character, tons of funk, and practically no acidity. light pineapple and coconut from the ferment too, warms up incredible well, and overall is something quite spectacular. one to seek out!

Poured from a bottle.

Appearance - Cloudy straw yellow body with a soapy thick head that slowly disappears to a few bubbles atop.
Smell - Lemon, grapefruit, citrous
Taste - Milder than the smell but very nice. Lemons and grapefruit with some straw and grass earthy undertones.
Feel - Lighter crisp body with medium carbonation. Lower bitterness. Very pleasant.
Overall - Great beer. Not over the top and an easy sipper. Aroma and flavor is great. Nice beer for a hot summer day.

Pours a pale lemon-yellow color with a bit of yeast sediment haze; dense carbonation; thick head, white and sudsy, very long lasting; sticky patches of foam stick to the glass. A mesmerizing smell concoction of lemon with a streak of brett funk; easy going earthy spiciness traces. The taste seems a bit flat compared to the aroma; brett phenol bitterness with a mere hint of citrus; citrus pith; sage and thyme. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; rather coarse on the palate; dry feeling throughout.

The suggestion the aroma hinted at didn't make it into the taste. The flavors seemed a flat and almost watery and came across more with the rougher side of brett yeasts dominating things. Now if the alluring combination of brett funk and lemon-like smells translated into a like taste, this would have been a magical beer.

I swear there was something wrong with the bottle I got. Cork came out with very little noise and it poured a quickly dissipating head. Seems like very little carbonation. Funky Bret smell, but nothing too overpowering, same follows on the taste. Light fruit flavors, white grape, lemon, a bit of oakiness. Not as dry a finish as I expected, mild booze presence. Good, but I hoped for more.

Strata seems like an odd hopped choice for a Brett Saison, but I can get on board with it. Mosaic seems like it’ll make more sense, but I’m interested to see what the two can do in unison over this base. Let’s pop it open and find out

Pours a cloudy yellow gold with a finger of soapy white head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is funky for sure, but in a red earthy way. I’m picking up on aromas of stone, pear skin, pineapple juice, crackery malt, wet hay, white pepper, apple cider vinegar, menthol, and light orange zest

It doesn’t have the same vibrancy in taste, but it’s still unique as hell in its own way. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting white grape, crackery malt, pear skin, white pepper, lemon zest, earthy hops, pineapple juice, and wildflower honey. The swallow brings notes of stone, wet hay, crackery malt, earthy hops, menthol, pineapple juice, orange zest, pear skin, and white grape

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes somewhat sticky but eventually dries out

This isn’t anything amazing, but it’s quite damn good overall and certainly unique. It could benefit from a bit more tartness

poured from a corked and caged 375mL bottle into a TG asssassin teku. pours a beautiful effervescent pale yellow but gathers in they glass a little deeper gold with mounds of soapy white foam head. the brett is strong with this one. kind of horsey, leathery, belgian-like stomas with some offsetting fruity hoppiness. soap and wet oak as well. taste follows although it’s a bit more dry and bitter. some floral flavors from the hops (or perhaps the hops and brett combined.). medium-full mouthfeel. again, dry on the finish. this was definitely more funky and bitter than sour. quite refreshing yet you still have to sip it. best nearer to room temperature.
