Replaced is next on the review table. Served at 48 degrees in a tulip glass. My friend from Texas brought this beer up on her annual pilgrimage to Idaho. The pour created a frothy and airy with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left loads of lacing on the glass. The color is medium amber-yellow with golden hues. The clarity is hazy, with bits of yeast floating. Overall for an imperial beer, this looks great.
Nosing the glass, I smell mangos, pineapple, guava, mandarin oranges, wine musk, floral esters like honeysuckle, bready, grapefruit, peaches, and pears.
I taste musty wine, mangos, pineapples, guava, mandarin oranges, honeysuckle, eucalyptus, pineapple, bready, lightly toasted malts, peaches, and pears.
The mouthfeel is somewhat astringent and finishes crisp and dry. The body is medium, has medium carbonation, and ends long and refreshing.
The Nelson hops are prevalent and have a factor in this beer profile. It does pair well with the other hops in the beer. Overall a tasty offering from Anchorage.
