Anchorage lupulin legends started with a pillowy base. Then they double dry hopped it with an all NZ hop bill of Riwaka, Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, and Nectaron for luscious waves of tropical nectar and a pinch of peppery earth.

Pours a straight pineapple juice hazy golden orange with half finger of creamy white head.
Aroma is tropical, notes of melon, citrus, some weedy and herbal hops; hints of peach.
Taste follows with juicy tropical fruit - pineapple, melon, peach and citrus with herbal and floral hops; sweet with minimal bitterness.
Creamy medium full mouthfeel with subdued carbonation and juicy fruity finish lingering, little evidence of the 10%.
Well made though honestly, for the price, not exceptional.

Medicine Women is next on the review table. I served it at 44 degrees. I used tulip glass; the pour created a frothy, foamy, off-white two-fingered head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left lots of lacing on the sides of the glass. The color charts around SRM 12 are golden yellow with amber hues. The clarity is hazy, with bits of yeast floating around. The appearance of the beer is elegant.
Nosing the glass, I smell melons, honeysuckle flowers, oranges, grapefruit, wine musk, and toasted bread. Smelling the beer again, apricots, peaches, dried fruit, and a touch of bay leaves. I wondered if this beer's hop profile would become muddled, yet the aromas are inviting.
The complex hop profile dances seamlessly on the palate. The hops are floral, grapefruit, resin, apricots, dried fruits, wine musk, oranges, lemons, melons, mangos, orange peel, bay leaves, and pineapple. The malt profile is lightly toasted, bready, and a touch of cereal.
The mouthfeel is astringent and powdery, finishing dry yet crisp. The body is medium-plus and has medium-plus carbonation.
Reading the hop profiles, I was worried this beer would suffer from an identity crisis. I found the later the hops blend well, playing off each other strengths. This beer TIPA, I found it to be a bit stronger than a traditional DDH DIPA. Overall, tasty stuff from Anchorage.

Canned 6/22/23

People rave about Anchorage’s hoppy offerings, and while I find them solid none have been super impressive to me yet. This one sounds up my alley though, as I have a new found appreciation for Nelson Sauvin hops and I’ve beeb searching for Nectaron hopped beers as well. Let’s crack it open and see what it has to offer

Pours a hazy pale gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose presents a nice balance of tropical fruit and sharper notes. I’m picking up on aromas of overripe mango, papaya, lime zest, herbal hops, bready malt, tangerine, white grape, cantaloupe, and light weed

It keeps up with the aroma in taste, nice and balanced. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting white grape, orange zest, bready malt, weedy hops, papaya, overripe peach, light mango, and pineapple juice. The swallow brings notes of white grape, like zest, herbal hops, bready malt, dank weed, pineapple juice, papaya, white pepper, and overripe mango

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes mostly dry with soft bitterness

Yeah, this is definitely the best Anchorage IPA I’ve had to date. I’d get more of this one if I see it again

L: Mimosa with short white head

S: White grape, cannabis, passion fruit, pineapple, earthy hops

T: Hop candy, white wine, tropical nectar, dank. Really excellent combination of flavors.

F: Creamy and smooth. Alcohol burn is not detectable on the palate, but in the chest.

O: I wish I could drink more , but it’s 10%

A beast of a triple NE-style hazy IPA, as one would expect from Anchorage, starting with the can art. A thick, turbid, hazy dull golden pour yields a fluffy, ice cream-like off-white head that laces well. Strong nose of lupulin, fruity and floral and exotic, tropical and spicy and somewhat earthy. Peach, pine sap, white wine spritzer, green grapes, diesel-y spice, orange peel, thick and creamy, viscous and velvety, subdued alcohol characteristics with some residual dry-hopping burn and latent alcohol heat. So good.
