It’s been a minute since I’ve had an Anchorage Wild Ale. I’ve already had one or two with blueberry, so I’m glad they’re sticking with what they know for this one. Let’s pop it open and see what it’s all about

Pours an opaque deep purple with a finger of soapy pinkish red head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing

The nose isn’t all that funky, but there’s some real depth to it. I’m picking up on aromas of blueberry skin, tannic red wine, smooth oak, raisin, wet hay, jammy blackberry, brown sugar, light bread crust, and lemon zest

The taste brings a bit more funk, leading to a sharper experience. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart blackberry, blueberry skin, lemon juice, sharp oak, grape skin, wet hay, light tobacco, brown sugar, and leather. The swallow brings notes of blueberry skin, lemon zest, graham crackery, jammy blackberry, brown sugar, smooth oak, wet hay, and red grape

A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes bone dry and refreshing

Though it’s a bit of the tame side of Wild, it’s still awesome

On tap at the brewery. A very interesting barrel aged mixed culture beer that has this distinctive "dairy farm" flavor in particular that reminds me of raw milk. The blueberries themselves are fairly subdued but give a lovely hue to the appearance
