Gabe Fletcher and his Alaskan crew started with a thick, rich, 16% ABV base, then aged it for 29 months in Willet Rye and Russel's Reserve Rye Barrels. Then they conditioned the beer on Nicaraguan coffee beans from their friends at Goldie's Roasters, and finished it off with a dose of West Papua vanilla beans.

Another thickly waxed (black) brew from a brewery that specializes in hyper-expensive brews that might be worth it. 375ML bottle.

Dark as Doolittle. Heady as Heady Topper, though hued differently. Dark. Er. Nose brings plenty of booze, some roast.

Caffeine Dreams hits harder than a train (with respect to Jackson Dean, lyricist extraordinaire). Rye & bourbon are all up in my grill, quickly migrating to my decision-making centers, which is to say this is enormously boozy. In a good way. Mid-palate brings a stab of roasty coffee, touch of sweetness that may or may not identify as vanilla. Big. Thicc. Brutal. It’s taken me almost three hours to get through this little bottle. I may be getting very old.

Aggressive & unapologetic. Top-notch. Sprinkle it over my ashes. Before I’m dead. Please.

After trying the Anchorage Kamimura, which to date is my all-time favorite coffee stout, I was super curious to try this Caffeine Dreams, which appears very similar, but without the coconut.

Look - Pours a dark black color with a small very dark brown head that disappears very quickly. A beautiful thick dark lacing on the glass when swirled.

Smell - Smell is very good. A nice mix of coffee and bourbon.

Taste - Coffee, vanilla, and bourbon. Nicely sweet, but not overly sweet. Impressive!

Feel - A very nice creamy thick texture that hides the 16%ABV nicely. Very well done!

Overall - Not as good as the Kamimura to me, but an outstanding coffee stout nonetheless. One of the best I've tried.
