750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Slightly hazy deep orange body. Not much of a head. Chunky collar with big bubbles.
Smell - Same sweet fruity aroma as Cuvee One, but has a woody vanilla and whiskey aroma.
Taste - Sweet caramel. Oak comes through before vanilla. Whiskey in the finish seems to hide any of the yeast characteristics and that unpleasant cardboard finish that Cuvee One had.
Mouthfeel - Nearly flat. Medium heavy.
Overall - Kinda tasty, if only because of the barrel.

Here is one I forgot I had, enjoyed from a prairie teku.
a - brew opens without much fanfar and fairly silent. It pours fairly still as well but some minimal head forms on the surface and leaves sparse bubbling in its wake. Deep brown sienna orange. Opaque.
s - nose is sweet booziness over Belgian candy. Syrupy and rich.
t/m - the nose and look did not lie. Mathis is fairly thick and syrupy and under carbed. Mostly just sweet malty toffee on the flavor. Resembles a golden ale but run through the syrup mill. Big caramel candy dominates the flavor and the whiskey seems to add a minor element to the top if at all. The wood seems present as we'll if not the only aspect of the flavor to shine through.
o - overall seems like a once decent beer that was held too long. Drink me if you got me. The drink ability is good enough that I will prob finish the bottle but not something to seek out at this point. Fairly meh.

Pours a hazy orange color. Thin, fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is bourbon, oak, peach and vanilla. Flavor is similar with a little bit of candi sugar sweetness and heavy emphasis on the whiskey barrel flavor. Medium bodied and slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Nicely balanced beer (a little heavy on the oak IMO) but not something I would probably go back to load up on.

Bottle from coldmeat23. Served in a snifter.
A - Minimal foam settles to nothing. Otherwise, looks like Cuvee One.
S - Smells quite similar to the base beer, but with a mild dose of whiskey that grows as the beer warms up. Not a ton of oak presence, but the whiskey cuts some of the sweetness which is nice.
T - The taste is again quite similar to the base beer, but this time oaky vanilla pervades and pushes overt whiskey to the periphery. Barrel is still fairly understated, and candi sugar and fruits dominate the palate.
M - Chewy medium-full body, lower carbonation, well-hidden booze. Again, a few more bubbles would keep this from being overly heavy.
D - Well it's a step up from the base beer it's still not great. I'm rarely convinced the whiskey barrel-aged Belgians are a great idea to begin with, and this does nothing to convince me otherwise.
