Pours a slightly hazy, gold/straw color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt/quinoa?, slight pale malt, slight citrus hops, and a hint of sugar. Fits the style of a Belgian Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, sweet malt/quinoa?, hint of hops, sugar, and slight earthiness. Overall, good appearance and blend. I'm not sure exactly how quinoa tastes, but there was a distinct malt-like flavor and aroma present.

Appearance: Pours a peachy color. Not too much foam.

Smell: It smells much better than it tastes, in my opinion. A strong fruit presence, especially banana.

Taste: Nice taste up front. Definitely fruity. But then it turned pretty bitter and dry at the end.

Mouthfeel: Incredibly thin. Not a lot of carbonation in my bottle.

Overall: I tried this beer at an Ethiopian restaurant in Amsterdam (pretty random). Definitely not the best Mongozo beer. The banana and the coconut beers by Mongozo are much better.

Bottle, 33 cl. Label reads Fairtrade. Hazy yellow colour, it pours a good head that last for a good minute and leaves a crown all the while. Aroma of spices, clove, pepper and coriander, tropical fruits and citrus. Body is just ok, more on the thin side, but the strong carbonation makes it seem stronger. Good feeling in the mouth, bubbles playing in your tongue. Taste is just like the smell, spices, citrus and tropical fruits, papaya or mango. Surprinsing and very drinkable beer, imo.

Pours a hazy yellow color
Smell is very peppery, spicy
Taste is dry up front with the carbonation getting in the way then changes to a more lemon citrus type flavor in an overpowering way. Their banana beer was the same way to much. They've over done it with the spices. Sorry not really my thing not digging it.

Creamy white head, a lot. Hazy orange color, with something floating in it.
Sweet smell, with strong tropical fruit notes.
Light malt, carbonated, with citric notes that make the beer more light in taste, not so sweet as you can expect.
Average to light body.
Fruity aftertaste, sweet but not cloying, with citric and orange notes that help the drinkability.

Starts off with about an inch of nice soft foamy white head, lasting for not much longer than a minute or so, then slowly turns into a ring on the glass.
It has a very clear yellow-orange color, closer to yellow than orange.

It smells fruity, exotic indeed, and a sweet smell with some herb in it.

The mouth feel is not unpleasant, as it's light and soft.
At first the taste is soft, very fruity but not too sweet. The taste of lemon that came next wasn't too pleasant. Then it turns very bitter and spicy (pepper?), and again there was the taste of lemon.

The exotic smell definitely excited me, but I was kind of disappointed with the heavy bitterness and lack of exotic taste. I'm not sure I want to drink the second one I have.

Small sample from a bottle at Smokeless Joe in Toronto, shared with northyorksammy and friends.

A somewhat over-spiced Belgian pale ale with some floral and wild clover aspects that are pleasant in the aroma but not so nice (at least for me) in the taste. Mildly peppery. Not something I'd typically order, but it was OK to try.

Grainy though it is a plant.Peachy colour with good head. Good yeast and creamy mouthfeel. and a plant beer, some farmhouse and spice aroma, abundant yeast and a unique Belgium. Smooth though drying finish and the quinoa is a plant, not a wheat. At Smokeless Joe's.

Cloudy yellow/orange color, medium lasting white head. Aroma (combination of a german wheat and a belgian triple) is some spice or herb, vegetable, and banana. Taste is sweet and spicy. Dry palate. Sweet taste and fruity. Light sweet, lemon, malty, and somewhat strange artificial bitterness or metallic flavor in the finish.

Soft foamy head, dense and lasting. Clear golden color body. The smell is very fresh and fruity, extremely sweet, candy-like. The taste is sweet and fruity at first but gets extremely bitter, dry and straw-like. I could barely finish my glass. I had the Mongozo banana and liked it, but this one really didn’t make it for me.
