Wow, I don't understand why this beer isn't offered year round. Appearance is a gorgeous deep black with a creamy tan head. Seeing this baby poured into an imperial pint glass is enough to get the juices flowing. The smell is simply sublime, as it's name suggests there is a very smokey smell to this beer. Taking a sip of this beer is like drinking liquid bbq, the smoke is in no way subtle in this beer. It smacks you in the face and makes you take attention. After you get over the intial smokiness, you discover a nice hop punch which add very nicely to this beer. Mouthfeel is smooth and clean, I would love it if they cask-conditioned this beer though. Drinkability is surprisingly high as i expected the strong smoke flavor to fatigue the palate.
