Appearance is a lovely green-tinted brown/orange. Translucent, it lets light through but there's plenty of unfiltered goodness keeping it from clarity. And it has a head: an LBC beer with a head! Bravo! Piney residue forms on the glass, followed by lacing, as the half-inch head fizzles away. I wish there was a hint more carbonation; and would love to try this beer from a nitro tap or cask as it would likely increase the body, which is a bit thin for the huge hop flavor and aroma. Aroma is overwhelming hops, putting the 85 to shame (85 is the previous hoppy/bitter LBC offering, named for its IBU rating).

Taste is strong piney hops with not quite enough malt to fully back it up. Definitely (and defiantly) mid-western rather than west-coast: it's a bit more subtle and palate-friendly than a scorching, bracing big hop-bomb (think Shipyard or even Alpha King rather than Modus Hoperandi). Stood up to the habanero hot sauce and cut through onion ring grease (it was a very good lunch ;-)

LBC is rolling out some winners this summer. Golden Lady was previously my favorite LBC brew, and IAIPA leaves me wondering if this one is even better. Keep them coming, LBC! Anyone who found previous LBC beers ... let's just say "uninspired" ... should return for a taste of these new brews. The bartenders promise I'm an American IPA will be in the regular rotation of seasonal offerings while Golden Lady was probably one-and-done. This is already the second batch of I'm an American IPA and I'm hoping it goes quick so it becomes a regular offering.

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- The slightly hazy orange body is supported by a white head and a gentle carbonation of tiny bubbles.
S- This beer has a nice full green fruity pine hops aroma that grows and has some nice depth to it.
T- There is a big pine almost mint like fresh green hops with a pale malt flavor that supports it well. There is a raw grain note aswell. The finish is a nice green hop flavor with a dry slate quality to it. There is big punchy bitterness that lingers.
M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with no alcohol heat and a soft fizz that supports the hops.
D- This beer has a huge hop flavor but the bitterness tends to overpower the flavors of the hops and malts.
