On-tap during a kick-ass show by local band The Clinton Era. Cheers!
A: Lighting's a little low, but a strong golden color is still distinguishable. Head has been mostly poured off, but a little white foam is still visible.
S: A spicy, Noble hop aroma, floral and piney through and through. It's not an intense hoppiness, but one that's balanced with the clean lager scents of biscuit and toasted bread crust. A little mustiness peaks through, also.
T: Classic pilsner zest: a taste of crisp lager yeast mixed with coarse, spicy hoppiness of German beer. Flakey wheat flavors, toasted white bread, and a touch of biscuit dough cement this one’s base, while black pepper, dried lemon rind, and grassy pine hang over the top of it. Finishes with an unfortunate old, stale taste that anyone familiar with Lafayette will instantly recognize; a dry snap of hops helps distract, though.
M: A bit slimy and under-carbonated, but that could be a result of the pour. Little carbonation and a very light body means that this one needs to keep its chill to remain drinkable.
O: The best I’ve had from Lafayette Brewing so far, and while it certainly isn’t bad beer, it’s nothing to seek out. But hey, for $2.50 a pint, who can complain?
