On-draught @ the bar in Sonoma. $5/pint. 5.50% ABV. 12 IBUs.
Not the hazy orange of a proper hefeweizen. More a vibrant copper typical of a pale ale.
Aroma brings notes of banana esters, banana bread, and vanilla. No citrus peel or spicy clove here. Subdued aromatic intensity.
Mouthfeel is delightfully soft, which gives this smooth wet ale a refreshing feel on the palate. Moderately high carbonation.
Taste approximates a proper hefeweizen, with notes of fresh wheat, banana, and Subtle vanilla. Balanced but shallow and simple. Lacks the depth and diversity of better expressions of the style. I find no clove, coriander, or orange peel.
A drinkable stab at a hefeweizen, and reasonably priced at $5, but I wouldn't order a second.
