Thanks to Skuter for sharing this one at Retsinis' tasting.
Pours a clear dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with a citrus flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is easy to drink.

A thin, transparent ruby brown with sediment speckles and a cola head that’s gone in a flash – way too light for a RIS.
Melanoidin nose: smoke, baguette crust, caramelized sugar. No coffee, no chocolate.
Sarsaparilla, brown toast, almond skin, cherry skins and caramel sauce; no roasty hit and it just fades away with no bitterness.
Cinnamon finish and vague pine bark linger. Medium to light, chewy, oily, sticky but flat.
Car crash of a beer: dead in the glass, thin but greasy, no hops, too hot, light for the style – imperial brown, maybe? – and just no distinct flavors. I’d like to think it’s a bad batch (Lot 1230) because it tastes under-attenuated – did this miss secondary fermentation? I’ve had better homebrew. Drain pour.

330ml bottle. Snifter glass. Enjoyed on agt´11. Mahogany color. Close, large bubbled, foam, beige in color. Pretty think & lasting crown. Toasted caramel malts, grapes & plums with chocolate hints to the nose. Sweet malty with dark fruit flavors. Dry cocoa in the middle. Watery finish. Light body, well balanced low carbonation. Sweet fruity aftertaste.
