At Cafe Spuyt, Amsterdam.

Red-chocolate brown with stack of cocoa foam.
Stale coffee, old oak and a bit of sweet roast.
Tea brack, raisin, slight vinous quality, a roasty dry hit and earthy, spice cake hops. Hint of chocolate truffle as you get to the bottom. (There's funky bump, too, which makes me wonder about the yeast.)
Sweet coffee finish and tight linger.
Full, oily, chewy.

Definitely not an Irish stout like the website says: big and chewy with mostly just sweet coffee. It could line up better as an FES, but it still feels underattenuated. Nice, but nothing to chase.

With thanks to Edwin de Cock (yes in Holland it is a normal name) I was able to try this beer. Erwin is the chairman of our 'PINT' tasting group at 'de Mug'. De Mug is ABT beer pub located in Middelburg, The Netherlands. Every first Tuesday of the month we blind-taste 6 beers in one particular style, this time it was stout and porters.

A - A pitch brown murky looking fluid.

S - Coffee, chocolate and some funky fruitiness.

T - Chocolate, coffee and a light fruitiness, all as the smell gave away.

M - The body is kind of watery and the bitterness is that of dark chocolate and coffee.

O - A good stout, but not one of my favorites.
