500 ml, BB date reads 28. March 2011, into tulip. Pours hazy golden body topped by medium, slightly off- white head with rather poor retention for a Hefeweizen.
Nose is fairly prominent clove phenolics and somewhat applish fruity esters of banana, wheat grain, hint of spiciness probably phenolic-derived and soapy notes that might originate from inappropriate fermenting conditions, i.e. the beer was kept to long in a primary fermentor causing the transformation of fatty acids into fatty acid salts, more commonly known as soap.
Flavor is slightly citric from suspended yeast with bitterness that seems to be phenolic rather then hop derived. Likewise the aroma, flavor too contains that unpleasant soapiness which detracts.
Light to medium bodied with carbonation rather flat for a Hefeweizen.
