I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a tulip.
Appearance: rich dark black hue with a finger of frothy tan foam. It's beautiful.
Smell: rich coffee aroma without being vegetal or bitter, with a sweet chocolate that is balanced and works very well. I like it a great deal!
Taste: a ton of coffee, followed by a little chocolate flavor, a bit of malt, and then even more coffee. However, it's still balanced and the coffee doesn't go off the rails with overly bitter or vegetal character. It is damn good.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a fair bit of richness, a good carbonation, and a very smooth and satisfying creaminess.
Overall: kudos indeed. This is one of the best coffee beers, one of the best chocolate beers, and probably the single best coffee-chocolate beers I've ever had. Again, kudos.
