A bold effort from New Albanian, their Belgian-style dark ale poured a caramel-brown color with a thin tan head. No lacing was evident. A very sweet aroma presented itself, emitting notes of peach, figs and candy sugar. The taste was more of the same, with pronounced notes of sweet dates, figs, prunes, candy sugar and other sweet fruit. Mouhtfeel was was a bit thin, but quite smooth. The strong alcohol content is well-masked. Overall, this is a flavorful Belgian-style that is almost too sweet and too powerful in the alcohol department to be regularly consumed. Regardless, a nice effort from this Indiana brewer.
