Sampled at Gravity Head. The beer poured an amber color with a finger of head that fell to coat the beer. the nose was sweet smokey. Not like smoked meat like other rauchbiers, but very pleasing. The flavor was upfront smoke, but moved quickly to a sweet caramel and nice hop bitter with the smoke dancing in and out. The feel was thick and smooth. Overall, there was no hint of the alcohol. The smoke flavors worked very well with the malt and hop in there. A great smoked beer with a great base under the smoke.

Tried this at Gravity Head at Rich O's. Not sure if it was a special make for the event or not. Says they use 85% smoked malt. Wow. Pours a dark brown color with a moderate head that had nice retention and left some lacing. The aroma had a definate smoked presence, but it wasn't offensive and it allowed some of the other malt and a little hop through. The flavor was incredibly smooth and creamy. The smoked flavor blended in well without being over done. Easy to drink and very enjoyable.
