Enjoyed straight from the source at Gravity Head '08 in the New Albanian Brewery/Rich O's Taproom. Poured into a 10oz glass.
Appearance- Hazed, wheaty and golden. Creamy carbonation on the head that dissipates long after the pour. Lacing clings on the sides and there are no real legs on this high gravity brew.
Smell- Spruce AND hops! I have never smelled BOTH in ANY beer, but thats the smell I'm getting on this beer. This smell immediately gets a 5.0. Malts and raisins linger. Oak is not very strong or overpowering.
Taste- Mmmmm.. Sweet with malt, light oak and big hops but still with a hint of spruce. Oak comes in later and the spruce still dominates. Big malt makes a sweet creamy flavor come in later. Perhaps they used Malto Dextrine or Lactose sugars.
Mouthfeel- Thick bodied, well-carbonated, creamy. Wow. This is quickly becoming a top rated beer in my book.
Drinkability- I love this beer. I can deal with this beer for a hot minute.

Gravity Head Twist: Brewed in honor of NABc past, present and future.
5,555 second boil (92:35) and 5 hop additions.
At any rate, the beer reminds me of Arogant Bastard Ale with a complicated malt profile, not to be dwarfed by agressive, and equally as complex, hopping rates. Strong malt and hop in the nose give a pungent, citrus, pine scent with a balanceing sweetness and weighted body to follow. Oak flavors contribute light wood, nutty flavors, but offer to round the rough edges off of the hops and alcohols. A touch of molassas and powdered sugar flow into a berry-like tartness for great drinking pleasure. Certainly worthy of an Aniversary Ale.
