A: This 130 IBU monster pours a clear golden amber with a creamy white head that takes some time to settle and leaves a moderate amount of lace around the sides of the glass.
S: Aromas of pine, spruce, juniper berry, lemon, lime, bitter orange, ripe kumquat, grapefruit, and tangerine are supported by mild, subtle scents of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and biscuits.
T: Hoppy notes of pine, spruce, juniper berry, cedar, leather, lemon, lime, bitter orange, kumquat, tangerine, and grapefruit coat the mouth, with flavors of toffee, caramel, brown sugar, and biscuit noticeable in the background. The finish is intense, resinous, and bitter with robust pine, spruce, juniper, lemon, lime, bitter orange, and grapefruit flavors at the fore, while hints of brown sugar, caramel, and biscuit remain in the background.
M: On the heavier side of medium and off-dry, at least initially. Carbonation is firm and crisp enough to provide balance. Alcohol presence is not detectable. As bitter and resinous as this beer is, it is surprisingly easy to drink.
O: A very good IPA with the hop character of a DIPA. As I drink this, I cannot help comparing it to Mikkeller's 1000 IBU or Dogfish Head's 120 Minute IPA, as this is like a smaller version of those two beers. A very nice effort that hopheads should really enjoy.
