A popular black ale created in the early 1800’s with increased alcohol & longevity. Imperial versions were developed for the Russian court as they could survive the journey to St. Petersburg. A coffee like nose, with flavours of roasted grain, dark chocolate & a well-balanced creaminess coming from flaked barley with a well-balanced smooth taste.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a half finger high light tan head that left a thin layer of bubbles and a narrow collar around the edge fo the glass after it died down.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark and chocolate malts are present in the nose along with faint hints of licorice.
T: The taste has flavors of dark malts with notes of licorice. Little, if any bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout is rather malty and is a good representation of the English Stout style.
