Notes: Crafted with British malt, Belgian yeast, and American hops, Bevrijder (translates as Liberator in Flemish/Dutch) is dry yet malty with a beautiful balance of malt, hop bitterness, and spicy Belgian character.

16oz glass at Beer Revolution.

This beer appears a clear, glassy medium bronzed amber hue, with a thin cap of wispy, bubbly, and mildly fizzy off-white head (again, a very, very good thing here), which leaves some stellar, densely cobwebbed lace around the glass as things duly recede.

It smells of edgy, somewhat phenolic yeast, orange cream, wet pine needles, bready pale malt, a touch of further caramel sweetness, and faint savoury spice. The taste is sharply biscuity, grainy caramel malt, acrid orchard fruit, plump raisins and watery dates, a bit of root beer earthiness, a more laid-back yeasty astringency, and reduced piney, leafy hops.

The carbonation is more or less understated as hell, the body an adequate medium weight, and too tight from yeast and hop alike to be deemed all that smooth. It finishes a bit on the sweet side, the caramel malt and fruitiness coming to overpower the flipside of inherent bitterness and yeasty acridity.

A pleasantly rendered version of the style, the yeast thankfully restrained, hardly interfering at all, with an amped-up fruitiness that adds a new dimension to what I may or may not have ever experienced here. Worth a try, if only for a new outlook on something that I usually couldn't give two shits about.

On tap at the brewery. Beautiful copper. Clear. Foamy head small bubbles.
Not much on the nose but makes up for it with the taste. Belgian yeast shines through nicely.
Balanced enough but the most bold in your face Belgian IPA I've had. Dry aftertaste. Strong hop feel and Belgian yeast flavors make for a very interesting combination. Very drinkable. I enjoyed this beer a lot and am looking forward to enjoying the growler-to-go.

A: Poured a nice golden color with good carbonation leaving a nice white cap

S: Belgian yeast, fruity

T: While it was tasty it was pretty far from an IPA. It has a nice bubble gum, fruity element, pretty light n crisp but this could not pass for an IPA. A light Belgian Pale, yes.

M: Sordove sweet, crisp, airy, fruits

D: Average for the style. Some additional hops and we have a winner.
