This rides an uncomfortable line between a stout and a porter, and feels like it leans more towards the porter side. A burnt flavor without the richness of a stout... Though I really like most of Sounds beers, this was not a favorite.

Poured from a 32oz plastic growler.
Pours black, finger of light brown head, some lace. Aroma is a big coffee note, with roast, and chocolate mixed with dark fruit. Tastes a bit less with coffee, but plenty chocolate and roast, light bitterness, cocoa powder. Feel is full bodied, but the carb seems flat. Good and creamy, but a hair too creamy with the lacking carbonation. Still ok.
Strikes a nice flavor and aroma profile. Enjoying the coffee and chocolate notes. Would recommend.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a solid black, with no translucence, and 1/2 inch of medium brown head that had very good retention and good lacing.
The aroma was about as expected for the style, good grains, a nice amount of roast (but not an overpowering amount) and just a bit of malt sweetness. On the tongue, the story is the same, the beer hits all the right notes in all the right amounts, the grain and roast balance nicely.
The body was also fairly typical, smooth and even, but there just the lightest bit of burnt roast at the finish that detracted from the whole. Drinkability was very good, I could drink a couple of these on a rainy, chilly day. Overall, a very good example of the style, a must try if you see it.

Poured near-black with a small mocha head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, and roasty malts.
Moderate carbonation and thick, creamy mouthfeel. Big cocoa and roast up front with caramel, licorice, and mild coffee bitterness on the finish.
Really nice stout. Another success from Sound Brewery.

Serving type - Growler poured into glass.
A - Pours a nice, thick black (motor oil style), with a large, lasting sepia head. Retention and lacing are grade A.
S - Roasted malts, coffee beans, and a somewhat strong acidic note on the nose.
T - Taste is of rich, chewy bittersweet chocolate malt, with robust, roasted flavors of coffee, hints of vanilla, and moderate hops. Very little, if any of the acidic notes found in the scent make their way into the taste.
M - Rich and full bodied, with smooth, just right carbonation.
O - Overall, a nice American-style stout. A good dessert or nightcap beer.

A: Poured a lighter black with brownish hues, nice dirty white head
S: Roasted malts, cocoa, some hints at coffee. Good but pretty average for the style
T: Nice. A nice roastiness coupled with a creaminess. Lots of flavor a single stout. Coffee is more back seat and cocoa with roasted malts is more dominant has anice, unique bittering finish which I liked
M: Medium to big body, not to thin which I see alot in American stouts. Plenty of taste.
O: Nice, well done.
