Drinking this Maibock on tap is the way to go. But unless you live in Karlsruhe it probably isnt going to happen for you. Nevertheless from the bottle its just as spectacular. This is one great Bier from Hoepfner!!!
It pours up a beautiful deep copper color and is topped by a big billowy head. The aroma presents soft malt tones composed of biscuit malt and toast. Very soft and very nice. The Hoepfner Mälzerei provide the typical Hoepfner grain aroma. Although surprisingly milder here as in there lighter Biers. The flavor bursts with BIG malty waves and hints of caramelized sugars. This Bier is full bodied but not syrupy. The sweetness is held in check with a very pleseant hop bitterness. The hops are also present to provide a mild herbal note to the elixir. The CO2 level is med-low and makes for easy drinking. Too bad the Maibock season is over. Guess I'll just have to wait until next year..and its worth the wait!!!
Zum Wohl!!!
