Poured from a 500ml bottle into an dimpled pint mug.

Pours a mid-light golden colour with a small white head.

Smells pretty sweet.

Tastes very sweet too, but quite thin so it doesn't end up being too syrupy. Spicy hops (sort of).

Overall a pretty nice beer, very refreshing.

This is again a solid offering from the Hoepfner family of Biers. One of the best all around Breweries in Deutschland. This is the Bier they typically will serve up at all the Straßenfest in the summer months. Lucky me! It’s about perfect on a nice summer day in the shade at a lake or at a fest. I really enjoyed it but would opt for some of their other Biers if I were to buy a Kister from them. On to the Bier…

Pours a picture perfect crystal clear gold color and is topped by a medium sized bubble head that’s billows up higher than the rim of the glass. This heads to thick to drain over the side and its got staying power! The aroma is malty sweet with hints of grain in the background. Hoepfner’s malt has very distinctive aroma that is part toasted grain and part vege as in raw pumpkin. I learned it now and blind test aren’t very “blind” anymore. Kind of like with Augustiner’s yeast aroma. Fresh bright minty hops balance out the malt aroma are a very nice compliment. The first taste begins slightly sweet and then fades quickly in to a well rounded bitterness. The Bier finishes with a nice malt and mild bitterness. The mouth feel is very nice coming in around medium. The flavors are smooth with malt and a slight grain background. The hops are very mild in the flavor department and could maybe be tweaked up a bit. This is a solid Bier! Karlsruhe should be proud of such a Brewery.

Zum Wohl!!!
