On tap at Backstreet Vista.
A: Dark reddish brown with a big beige head.
S: Aromatic bread with caramel and toasted biscuit. There's a faint nuttiness. Citrus is faint is light, redolent of orange.
T: Caramel and toasted bread with notes of biscuit. There's a touch of orange and a lower moderate bitterness.
M: Medium body with upper moderate carbonation.
Overall: A good malty red ale.

From a pitcher at the Orange location, on to the beer:
Darker amber in color with decent head formation that slowly goes away. This is a relatively simple beer, in both aroma and taste. The nose has some fruity esters, and the taste also has some fruity esters and a little toasted caramel. A little watery sometimes with decent carbonation. Still drinkable in fair quantities.
Decent, nothing to knock your socks off. But it does the job with pizza.

On-tap at Back Street (Irvine)
A: The pour is a nice amber color with a thin ring of off-white head.
S: There's a decent caramel and toffee sweetness with some light citrus hop aroma too. Unfortunately, a weird olive oil sort of aroma that doesn't belong in beer.
T: Not really sweet or bitter, but a bit of toffee to provide some sort of malty flavor. Again, the fruity olive oil character and somewhat chalky, too.
M: The body is medium, I suppose, but the carbonation is fairly low and there is the previously mentioned chalkiness.
D: Back Street does have some pretty decent beers, but this is not one of them, unfortunately.

Pours an amber orange, with an off white foam head. Looks decent enough.
Smells faintly of caramel malt, and maybe a bit of pine. Taste is weak, and the aroma may actually be slightly better. Just some sickly malt, some almost vegetably/skunky pine hops, and a weak current of sweetness. Just not that great.
Thin, but carbonated. Avoidable.

A-Deep copper wiht a thin light tan head that left spotty lacing.
S-Heavy sweet caramel malt with a faint suggestion of hops coming through.
T-Malt, malt and more sweet caramel malt. Then a passing hint of earthy hops. Not what I like in a red ale.
M-Medium body with a long lasting, almost cloying malty sweetness. Is very smooth and "round" feeling.
D-For a malty red ale this is spot on, but for me I am not a fan. I like hops in my red and would consider this an Irish Red not an American version. Not a bad beer, just not one I want to drink much of.

A: Attractive amber mahogoney with a simple ring of sand colored bubbles around the glass
S: Cooked strawberries, stewed tomates, worstershire and toasted bran.
T: First sip is basic red fruits. Next comes minor caramel and toaster crumbs. Really simple cocoa puffs and some melon are present as well. Finished with nips of brown sugar simple syrup.
M: Medium body with carbo sting.
D: Very, very average.

The beer poured a rich amber with an off white head. The aroma was simple but very pleasant of good sweet malt. The taste was light sweet malt at the start, and then just a nice crisp hop finish. The feel was medium and dry. This was just a nice solid amber ale, nothing fancy just let good sweet malt and nice bit of hops do the talking.

Cask @ Real Ale Fest
The beer pulled a reddish-brown with a nice light tan head with the lace a velum like sheet. Nose was mostly malt; sweet and clean, start was sweet with a light to middling top. Finish was mildly acidic, the hops fair to middling in their spiciness, dry and a fairly drinkable beer, albeit a bit light for me, or was that because of all the big hopped beers?
