This beer is opaque at first glace, but is really more of a ruby brown color that leaves thin lacing on the glass. The aroma is astringent, some smoke, bitter chocolate. Looks like this won't be a sweet porter, but a bittersweet one. The taste has the same character as the aroma, astringent smoke and bittersweet chocolate. Oatmeal sweetness? There's a hoppy bite towards the end of each sip. Bitter, sweet, and somewhat hoppy....this porter fits that breed.
