Finally got to check this style off the list. Per the bartender, they are tasting out this "rare german style" to see what the reception is like.
Pours a brownish, amberish, orange.
Smells like bittering, earthy hops, an interesting ... bready? ... malt-y background. Kind of ESB-ish actually.
Tastes kind of ESBish as well. Malt with perhaps a faint hint of roasted bitterness, some earth notes, finishes somewhat dry despite the balanced flavoring.
