On-tap at Back Street (Irvine)

A: The pour is a dark brown color with hints of red in the right light. Kind of cola-like.

S: Plenty of roast and coffee up front. Lots of sweet vanilla, which is good if you like vanilla. We might be on to something here.

T: Unfortunately, the flavor is quite watery. Sure, plenty of roast, coffee, and some sweet milk chocolate, along with the vanilla. A mild bitterness from the roasted components.

M: The body is just too watery and detracts quite a bit from the beer. Carbonation is low and smooth.

D: I liked the flavor and aroma, I just wish this wasn't so thin and watered down. Otherwise, this would have been a definite winner.

Pours a dark cola brown with a blackish edge. Maybe a half an inch of tan foam. Looks like a soda, but a bit darker.

Smells pretty decent, actually. Some roast (quite a bit of roast) and a heaping vanilla aroma. Seems good ... but it was a bit worrisome even before I drank it, considering how strongly vanilla-ized it was.

The flavor ... whoa. Like burnt vanilla extract with roasted malt. Maybe a dash of chocolate. I love vanilla, so I powered through, but I could see some having a real problem with this.

Mouthfeel a bit too thin.
