On-tap at Back Street (Irvine)
A: Holy hell is this an ugly beer. Incredibly turbid and not even brown, we'll call it a mahogany color, with almost no head.
S: It smells only slightly better than it looks. Roasted and toasted malts combine with nutshells and coffee grounds to compose the aroma. It's watery, just to help things out a little bit more.
T: What. The. Hell. Acidic and roasty with a lot of flavor coming directly from CO2. Maybe some chocolate flavor, but probably something like 3 year old Valentine's Day chocolate you bought at the 99 cent store. And there's an inexplicable spicy flavor to this beer.
M: The body is light and watery with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: Total fail on Back Street's part. This was a waste.

Pours a dark brown. Minimal, one eighth of an inch of light tan foam. The foam quickly died.
Smell is VERY muted, and downright nonexistent. I kept hoping as it warmed something would pop out, but it never did. Maybe just a whiff of roasted vegetable chocolate.
Taste is pretty horrid. Just some stale, acrid chocolate/roast malt, a bit of weird vegetable overtones, and an almost cigarette-ash aftertaste.
Also too thin.
