Notes from 09/21/11
*On tap at the brewery

A: Bitter Broad pulled up with that clear brassed-over golden kind of look with a thin khaki cap. Some droopy lace amongst the glass here and there.

S: Not a whole lot going on in the aroma but a minor sweet grapefruit nose. Some pale malts and some alcohol detectable too.

T: Tastes a bit juicy on the otherhand...some nice grapefruit and pine hop notes. A bit of chewy caramel malt backing. Slightly warming on the finish.

M: Very light in body considering. Nice creamy texture. Mod carbonation. Sticky mouthcoat.

D: Very light and fruity for a DIPA with a bit of caramel nuttiness to it. Definitely lacking in the perfume department though. Needs more aroma & dry hop in my opinion.

Decent DIPA with some nice drinkability but nothing I would bang the drum for.

On tap at Backstreet. Numerous pints.

A: Bright orange with a massive frothy white head that overflows on the bar. Nice.

S: Bright hop profile, lots of grapefruit and orange flesh with a little rind and pith. Heavy Cascade influence. A little grass and pine. Malt is faint. Very nice.

T: The flavor exhibits an abundance of hop character with a smooth moderate bitterness. Lots of orange and grapefruit flesh with a dash of pine. Awesome flavor. Finishes with a blast of citrus that lingers on the palate for many minutes. No astringency or alcohol notes. The subtlety of the ABV is criminal.

M: Upper light to lower medium in body. Carbonation is at an upper moderate level. Mouthfeel is crispy, dry, and sticky.

Overall: This is very good and the best beer I've had from Backstreet Vista. Highly drinkable for a beer of this ABV, this is dangerous. Definitely recommended.
