On tap at Backstreet Vista on the day of the release. This spent 5 months in Heaven Hill barrels.
A: Black with a big creamy light brown head. Really good head retention with web-like lacing on the Delirium snifter.
S: Pronounced cocoa with vanilla and the wood of a sapling. Bourbon is light but pleasant. There's a moderate roasted quality with a little coffee, brown sugar, and molasses. Smells great.
T: The flavor displays a blend of milk and dark chocolate with just a little blackstrap molasses. There's some coffee but it lingers in the background. The bourbon is well integrated, with accompanying vanilla, cocoa, and wood. There's a light tannic quality on the back end. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden. Malt is moderately roasted and there's ephemeral midpalate brown sugar sweetness. This is really well balanced, with no single characteristic asserting dominance. Caramel becomes apparent when the beer warms up.
M: Full in body with upper moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is chewy, sticky, and creamy.
Overall: Really good and far too drinkable for 12%. They serve this really cold. I shouldn't have to say this, but let it warm up for a long time. The beer opened up a lot after 30 minutes, mostly due to reaching a reasonable temperature.
