With our year-round pilsner fully dialed in, we decided it was time to dial things up to 11 - or at least 8.5 - with this imperial version, brewed as a one-off specifically for Brewvival 2012. The plethora of malt drives a sweet character, subdued by that familiar crisp edge of German hops. It’s all the pilsner, with less of the water.

Purchased a growler from the CBX after missing this one at the Brewvival.
A - Pours a hazy brown/golden color into a standard pint glass, a nice finger of fairly dense cream colored head. Ok retention, decent lacing
S - Lots of sweet caramel malts, and some floral/grassy hops. Not getting too many different aromas out of this but its definitely pretty sweet, a little grainy too maybe.
T - Oh thats good very big and bold, I'm drinking this at about 55, probably better suited at a cooler temperature. Pretty heavy and malty, still a very nice grassy hop bite.
M - Medium/heavier bodied at this temp, appropriate carbonation. Fairly drinkable. About to go out and grill with a growler fresh out the fridge so ill comment back after consuming closer to 40 or so, which is probably the ideal temp.
O - Overall very aggressive, bitter, delicious.. Holy city has been improving significantly since their opening in my opinion. More like medium bodied, more of a brisk hop bite at a cooler temp (40-45)

Poured from tap into pint at Sesame Burger.
Pours a hazy brown golden. Smells of serious hoppy malts and booze.
Taste is of very sweet boozey hops...nice malts, but a bit too sweet.
It has a lot of personallity; malty, hops, and sweet. Very boozey...but the flavor makes it drinkable. Worth a taste...and it makes me wane more from these guys...

A: Had this beer on-tap at Gene's Hofbrau. Had an amber color and a clear consistency. There was an inch of foamy, long-lasting head. Great lacing.
S: A sharp, hoppy aroma, with a big dose of malt as well.
T: Tasted of hops - more than you would expect from a pilsner - lots of malt, and a good amount of citrus (lemon). Fairly boozy, but not to the point of distraction. A pretty well-rounded flavor.
M: A well-carbonated beer with a fairly slick finish. Medium-bodied.
O: On the whole, a solidly made, very robust, drinkable beer.
