Wanna hear something kinda funny? Our head brewer, Chris, has a degree in Geology. He went back to his rocky roots to brew this IPA in collaboration with the College of Charleston (his alma mater) Geology Department. It’s a bold, strong IPA, with a tropical aroma thanks to a hefty Amarillo dry-hop.
The moral of the story: Even Geology majors can get a real job.

I really Iike what Holy City is doing? They are continuously producing some top notch beers and further strengthening the Charleston Beer scene. Kudos to them!
Had this on on tap at the brewery, during the party for the Southeastern Beard and Moustache Championships. The appearance was my highlight for this beer, but overall it was a solid beer. When it was poured, it almost had a Guinness-like layering, with lots of levels bubbling up. The head was an impressive pillowy mass, that had some staying power, that eventually turned into a thick lacing. Smell was strong malt up front, followed by a hop tinge. Taste was a bit hoppy for a regular IPA, almost was like a lighter DIPA, but I liked that. What was nice about it, was that there wasn't a lingering aftertaste, it was fairly smooth. Overall a great offering from HCB. Looking forward to trying some more great brews in the future.
