A springtime session stout? Why not. The “weak” moniker refers ONLY to the ABV, as there are tons of body, notes of chocolate and smoke, and Northern Brewer-driven bitterness. Enjoy a few pints in sun or shade, with or without AC.

64oz growler from Holy City. Poured into a shaker pint glass...
A: Black, with a light brown, half-finger head; slight retention and no lace.
S: Roasted malts, big time; coffee and chicory; pretty big aroma.
T: Follows the nose; roasted coffee malts, chocolate and some hints of smoke.
M: Full (especially considering the abv); low carbonation; pretty heavy mouthfeel - bigger than expected.
O: A lovely session brew; kinda wish it was out in winter, though; a good "breakfast beer;" big mouthfeel, roasted malt aroma and taste and low abv = nice drinkability. Very good.

A: Had this beer on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau, poured into a pint glass. Had a jet black color and a thick consistency. There was a small amount of tan-colored, creamy head that quickly dissipated. Excellent lacing.
S: Different than I expected: Chocolate, malt, and a distinct smokiness.
T: Not a typical American Stout flavor: A fair amount of chocolate, some malt, a mild nutty quality, light hops, and the aforementioned smokiness. An interesting flavor.
M: A fair amount of carbonation with a slick finish. Medium- to full-bodied.
O: While this isn't my favorite stout of all time, it is still enjoyable and drinkable as well.
