"...Yeah, yeah. She's seeing this guy, Art Vandelay..."
If there's one thing we learned from Seinfeld, it's that there's no point in just being an importer. The real money is in importing/exporting. Taking this lesson to heart, we brewed a German-style Export Lager, but imported some American hops, atypical for the style, into the picture. It's a big lager at 6.3% ABV, but the hop varietals generate more than enough bitterness to meet the malt's challenge.
One rule: if you're drinking this beer and the phone rings, you have to answer "Vandelay Industries."

A: Had this one on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau, poured into a pint glass. Had yellow color and a clear consistency. There was an inch of foamy, long-lasting head. Great lacing.
S: A sharp aroma of hops, fruit, and some malt as well.
T: Tasted of hops (a surprisingly large amount considering the style), a good shot of citrus (lemon), and malt. Not your typical Dortmunder flavor, but very bold and vibrant.
M: A well-carbonated beer with a somewhat slick finish finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This beer probably has more in common with an Imperial Pilsner than a Dortmunder, but this isn't a bad thing. It's well made and easy to drink.
