This is Lancelot beer brewed with chestnut flour, according to their website.

A - Poured from 33cl bottle into goblet. Pours a nice off white two finger head which slowly recedes without lacing. Amber hue, quite cloudy.

S - The aroma is not strong. Some subtle earthy smells and citrus notes.

T - Upfront there is quite a bit of malt sweetness, somewhat biscuty or toasty. The flavor includes some fruit or citrus complexity that I can't quite place, presumably this is chestnut. It doesn't remind me of the roasted ones, though. The finish is more bitter, but leaves a sort of cloying sweetness on the palate.

M - Full bodied for a pale / blonde ale.

D - Something about the flavor or sweetness is somewhat unsettling. It's interesting, but not drawing me back for more.

Cloudy straw color; nice ring of lace initially although this does disappear--nearly no head

Lots of grassy aromas; otherwise a quite light smell

Reminds me of a German Kolsch; the hops show up better in the taste (as opposed to the smell) as well as the finish. The malts are lighter than the aroma would suggest. The body is moderate with an above average carbonation.

This is one of the more flavorful lighter beers that I've tried. It was commonplace in Brittany while I was there in the summer of '07.

Appearence : Ale Belgium style, good effeverscense with a pretty stick on the bottle
Smell : flavour with chestnut
Taste : chesnut taste with hop
Mouthfeel : finish with chestnut
Drinkability : not the better beer produced by Lancelot brewery

Nota : it's not possible to select Belgium blond ale in review beer style !
