This is my first taste at the newly converted Tullycross in Manchester, CT (formerly John Harvard’s) and the look of this IPA is a slightly hazy, deep orange-amber color with a fair off-white head and very good lacing. The aroma is a purposeful and tasty citrus hop over biscuit caramel. Nice. The flavor brings a very nice match to the smell with big grapefruit and orange bite with a tasteful undercurrent of biscuity toffee. It holds it’s sharpness but the grainy sweetness manages to keep it very drinkable and in my mind, very enjoyable. Apparently this was the brewers first IPA venture from many years ago and he has since made many improvements. I see no need for improvement. It’s a citrus bath with some balance to keep it accessible for any hop fan. It’s medium-light bodied with plenty of reasonable carbonation to offer a crisp, refreshing feel. Well done.
